Health Hacking

March 12th, 2009

Can’t convince anyone that your brilliant idea will really work? Can’t find a convenient way to prove your point? Oh yeah, just try it on yourself.

There is a great collection of self-experimentation stories up at the New Scientist site. Get ready to read about people pouring yellow fever infected vomit into their eyes, stabbing themselves, inflicting themselves with radiation burns, suffering from oxygen poisoning, sleeping with cave-rats, dropping acid, trying to get ulcers, and letting hookworm larvae burrow away.

l’oiseaux ringtones

October 29th, 2007

Found a great site called sonic()bject where audio artists have put together free collections of ring tones that don’t fit into any existing substrata of the market (i can’t imagine these ever being available in the iTunes ringtone store).

They are also offered in several different formats, and can all be previewed.

Highly recommended.

la superette

October 16th, 2007

My good friends are putting on the 10th annual La Superette this year in NYC. It’s a little hard to describe, but basically it’s a huge art challenge, but the challenge is to make multiple edition, retail ready art that will be shown in a gallery, but set up like a store. It happens in December, they usually have bands and lectures and classes throughout the event. This time around it looks like it’ll be going on for 3 weeks!

I’d like to encourage you all to put something together for the show, it’s a fun challenge (we usually make games), the gallery is at Times Square, and it’s a great way to make a few extra bucks. We’ll be testing out a new game this month here in Portland to see if it has what it takes for a La Superette submission. If you are around the 27th of October, come on by for a game: 8pm till late: zing me for a location.
